AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS SHALL CONTRACT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT TO ESTABLISH A WORK PROGRAM FOR DATA PROCESSING ENTRY AT THE CENTRAL MISSISSIPPI CORRECTIONAL FACILITY; TO PROVIDE THAT A JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY FOR JUVENILES IN NEED OF SUPERVISION MAY BE CONSTRUCTED IN TALLAHATCHIE COUNTY; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:

SECTION 1. (1) The Department of Corrections shall contract with the Department of Economic and Community Development for a training and work program for inmates to perform data processing entry at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility.

SECTION 2. In addition to any other provisions of law, it shall be lawful for a correctional facility constructed in Tallahatchie County to house juveniles who have been found delinquent or in need of supervision. The juveniles shall be housed in a correctional facility constructed in Tallahatchie County. The juveniles housed under the provisions of this section and sentenced under the laws of the federal government or its territories or another state shall be under the jurisdiction of the youth or juvenile court or committing jurisdiction in which the juvenile was found to be delinquent or in need of supervision.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.
